Rodent Control

Rodent infestations are more than just an annoyance, they can cause serious, expensive property damage and even possibly transmit deadly diseases. If you see any rodent droppings in your home, especially near food and water sources, it is imperative that you contact a professional rodent control service.

Simply trying to remove rodents with poisons will not prevent rodents from returning to your home in the future. One way to permanently ensure that your home stays rodent-free is to first seal all entry points to your house and make sure all food and water sources are properly protected.

The use of traps to eliminate rodents from your house is the preferred method of rodent control, whether the traps are the traditional spring traps or the modern glue traps. By using traps, you avoid the presence of hazardous poisons while also providing proof that the rodents have been killed, and it allows for easy disposal. This also prevents noxious odors from lingering around the deceased rodents.

Signs of Rats

How do you know if you have rats? Here are a few of the common signs:

  • Droppings – you might find these in places like cupboards, cabinets and other areas around the home where rats like to hide
  • Scratching sounds – if you hear gnawing and the sounds of scampering in the walls or around the house you might have rats.
  • Damage – a rat’s teeth are constantly growing and that means they have to chew on hard things like wood to trim them back. You might find holes in walls and wood.
  • Rub marks – rats get coated with dirt and they like to rub against the walls to find their way around a room’s perimeter, since they can’t see so well. You can often find smudges as an indication of rats, but they can often stay on walls for a long time, so it might be from an old infestation.
  • Rats themselves – if you see one rat, there’s a good chance there are a bunch more hiding in nests or burrows that you can’t see.
  • Nests and Burrows – check behind shelves, boxes, behind the fridge, anywhere that a rat might like to use as a hiding space.
